Registry: Online Point-of-Care Tool
The online point-of-care tool was the user interface to the CCCN Diabetes Registry database. It provided the means for healthcare providers and their staff to review and update a patient's medical record. The updates were a result of the patient-to-physician office visit, as well as the automatic feed of lab test results that were linked through an electronic records back end database. Although the healthcare provider (e.g., doctor, nurse practitioner) could use this online interface during the patient visit, the office staff were the primary users of this online user interface. Staff would use the online point-of-care tool in preparation for the patient visit by printing the patient's visit record, and then again updating the patient information that was gathered during the patient-to-physician encounter, after the patient had left the office.
The following illustrates where in the usage scenario this online point-of-care tool is used. This portion of the usage scenario is outlined in red.
